2024 Projects
In 2024, the JHA Project continued its mission in Amurire Village, Ibadan, a community of about 15,000 people facing severe shortages of clean water and basic infrastructure. To address the ongoing health risks caused by unsafe water, the project provided a solar-powered borehole, ensuring sustainable access to clean, reliable water for the entire community.
The team also visited a neighboring school, Community Grammar School, Araromi Aperin, Ibadan, which had been badly damaged by natural elements. Classrooms were left roofless, with trees growing through them, making learning nearly impossible for the school’s 350 students. Although the needs were overwhelming, the JHA Project was able to renovate two classrooms, creating a safe and functional learning space for students and teachers.
The 2024 Basket Ball Tournament
Just Help Africa (JHA) was born from my personal journey with basketball—a sport that opened doors and changed the course of my life. After hosting our first basketball tournament, I quickly realized that while sports can be transformative, not every child will have the same physical gifts, interests, or opportunities.
That realization shaped JHA’s broader mission. We expanded our focus to address the foundational needs that create real opportunity: clean water, quality education, and youth development in underserved rural communities across Africa.
While our mission has grown, basketball remains at the heart of JHA. Each year, we host the JHA Basketball Tournament at the conclusion of our annual projects—not just as a competition, but as a celebration of community, progress, and hope. The tournament continues to grow every year, uniting youth and reinforcing our belief that every child deserves the chance to thrive, on and off the court.
The 2024 outreach in Amurire brought renewed hope—delivering clean water to save lives and restoring education where it had nearly disappeared.
